A Frugal Fortune

The word frugal has had negative connotations for years and it is time now to dust off this once loved word and to allow the healing process to begin.

No one wants to waste money and being frugal will help you save, or make a fortune. And for those fashion conscious out there- fear not, it is now chic to be frugal, and we are going to give you the top tips for a frugal fortune.

Everyone enjoys splashing out on a new outfit; whether it is for business or pleasure. The problem is the expense. Depending on your taste and where you usually shop, your new outfit could be easily costing you a three figure sum, (and that is without shoes and accessories) an answer to this great, and sometimes unneeded expenditure, lies within charity and second hand shops.

Once upon a time, it was a huge fashion faux pas to enter such establishments, but thanks to a huge shift in social trends, it is now totally acceptable and even desirable! This is one sure fire way to save money and enables you to grab a great outfit that is unique.

If you are more concerned with earning a bit of cash, rather than spending, get all your old stuff: CDs, clothes, bags, shoes, toys, tools and bric-a-brac and head down to your local car boot, flea market or hold a yard sale.

This is sure to help you clear some space and earn you some extra cash. Everyone has things that they no longer want or need meaning that you can be frugal and not allow the opportunity to go to waste.

Another way to save a frugal fortune is to keep the kids entertained at home on the weekends. We are all guilty of thinking that by paying a large entrance fee, usually into a theme park or something along those lines will make your children happy and keep them entertained and of course it will. But you do have options.

Getting the kids involved in every day activities will go don much better than you expect. Cleaning the car can be fun if done as a whole family and as well as it being a great way to save money, it keeps everyone occupied and together. Baking, gardening and arts and crafts are just a few ideas that are free to do and that most children will relish spending their weekend with their parents. Everyone wins.

Frugal no longer means collecting scraps of soap and pressing it into another bar. The word and ideas to be frugal have come into this century. There has never been a better time to save and earn some cash thanks to a frugal way of living.
